ILC NIDC School site Update

Following the RWIU of 13th June 2007 we received an update about the NIDC consultation. The ILC are currently meeting local public housing tenants to brief them and to hear about their concerns

Among the issues raised have been local concerns about lighting and noise especially about the oval. The oval will predominantly be used for training, so crowds won’t be drawn there and the lights will tend to be used in winter to allow training into the evening. The ILC expect that training will often finish at 8:00 rather than 10:00, and while the ILC hopes to be able to use the oval any day of the week, they don’t foresee groups wanting to use it every night. The ILC is certainly aware of these concerns.

The ILC is also hearing from public housing tenants about the problems they perceive about drinking and unruly behavior in the area currently. This is obviously a real problem for the locals, but one that is beyond the capability of any one organisation or development to solve.

The other issue of interest to people is the local use and access. The ILC is continuing to think about the services and facilities and opportunities for local use. This will be an ongoing conversation.

If you would like any clarification or to provide feedback about the proposal please contact Stuart Waters stuart@twyford.com.au . Formal submissions on the Development Application close on 15th June 2007.
