    <description>WHEN millions of African slaves were shipped to South America in the 1400s, they took one thing with them rhythm. Uruguayan band Candombe Yaugura use drums and piano to recreate the beat. The 35-piece band will perform at the CarriageWorks in Eveleigh as part of the Elevate the Music Festival next week.Elevate the Music organiser Jacklin Matti said Candombe Yaugura should be commended for their charity work as well as their energy on stage."They raise money for hospitals and things in Uruguay. They teach children how to play the drums."

manager Carlos Quijano said the group, formed in 1997, had members from
Uruguay, Peru and Chile. "It's more than a band, we are a cultural
group," he said."We try to present the culture of Uruguay."</p>

festival, set up to promote upcoming artists, will also feature
performances from singer-songwriter Harrison Hastings, West African
band Odenigbo, Brazilian group Batucada Elite and DJ Sunnyyankee.</p>

photography was kindled during the1970s when Indigenous legal, medical and land 
rights became explosive issues. She has had 
over&nbsp;15 solo and multiple group exhibitions. This is her first retrospective.</p>

And meet Toni’s boyfriend Jason, an apprentice mechanic who wants to move in, wants to have everything now and spends his wages on getting all the latest things on credit.<br />Find out how they juggle money, life, work and relationships and get something for nothing.<br />Interact with the cast to change the outcome when two country teenagers visiting the city, are seduced into buying a new mobile phone, but one of them ends up losing their job, their car and their phone!<br />A play written by Brian Joyce, directed by Rod Smith.</p>

service. This truly unique Roll of Honour is being prepared by celebrated
Redfern Aboriginal artist Adam Hill.</p>
